Know Advertising as a Craft and Its Various Types

Advertising in India has a bright future. It is India's fastest-growing and most important industry sector. The field of study has grown from a tiny business to a full-fledged industry. It is one of the most important industries and tertiary sectors, expanding its horizons in terms of innovation, capital investment, and employee engagement. The Indian advertising industry built itself internationally in a short period of time.


These are some of the famous types of advertising:

  • Print Advertising:

Advertisements printed on paper, such as those found in newspapers and magazines, are known as print advertising. Other printed products, such as brochures, directories, and flyers, are included in this category. Companies may target customers in a specific geographic area by placing advertising in local newspapers, whether throughout the paper or in the classifieds section.

  • Television Advertising:

Companies sell their products or services using 20-, 30-, or 60-second TV ads in television advertising, which is a sort of broadcast advertising. It is pricey, but it allows businesses to repeat their adverts on a regular basis. The cost of running television ads varies depending on the following factors: the length of the advertisement, the time of day, the television show, the frequency of airing, the geographic reach, and the number of networks.



  • Radio Advertising:

This type of advertising includes ads that are played during programming breaks. Usually, people listen to the radio when they are busy with other chores. So, they can even hear advertisements while doing their other tasks. Radio also has the option for repetition of advertisements which is beneficial for attracting customers. Through this, they will also get to know the what is the best time to advertise their product.

  • Direct Mail Advertising:

This type of advertising is a form of print advertising. The companies send out brochures, flyers, newsletters, etc. by mail to customers. Because ads are distributed via a direct mailing list, this strategy allows businesses to identify a more targeted demographic than other print advertising forms.

  • Mobile advertising

This type of advertising will reach customers on their mobile phones, tablets, etc. If they have internet connectivity. Through social media, apps, and web pages the consumers can get the ad. These advertisements have no barrier, they can reach the consumer directly and it doesn’t matter wherever they are. If the customers even enable location the organizations can target them geographically as well.

  • Social Media Advertising:

Social media advertising is used by companies to advertise their product and services offered to customers and promote them on various platforms of social media. Organizations can target a specific audience by the use of social media advertising. Customers may be targeted based on their geographic area, age group, or purchasing patterns. They have the option of paying for platforms to promote their ads or using more natural techniques.


The aspirants can pursue a Degree in Advertising and Brand Communication course, short-term courses, diplomas, or undergraduate degrees in advertising. Also, after completing the bachelor's they can go ahead with or can opt for an M.A. in Advertising.
